A gas boiler gives back less energy than it burns, and a plug-in electric heater turns 1kW of power into 1kW of heat at best. Modern air conditioning moves heat instead of making it, so it delivers 3 to 4kW of warmth for every 1kW of electricity. That makes it far cheaper to run than electric heaters, with instant comfort at the touch of a button and no boiler upgrade required.

Greener than gas. Because it uses 3 to 4 times less energy than burning gas, it produces around 70% less carbon per unit of heat on today's grid, and that gap only widens as the grid gets cleaner each year.

How we work this out

This is an illustration, not a quote. It estimates the carbon from heating one room across a typical UK year, using average monthly outdoor temperatures and standard heating degree days, so the amount of heating naturally rises in winter and falls to almost nothing in summer. We assume the unit's efficiency changes with the weather (around 3.3 units of heat per unit of electricity in midwinter, rising above 4 in milder months), on grid electricity at roughly 0.20 kg CO₂ per kWh, a UK average that keeps falling as more wind and solar come online. The gas figure assumes a boiler about 90% efficient at around 0.18 kg CO₂ per kWh of gas burned. It compares heating only, since a gas boiler cannot cool. Your real figures depend on your home, your unit, the weather and how you use it, so treat this as a guide. We'll confirm the exact figures for your property at a site visit before we install.

Is my home suitable for air conditioning?
Most homes are, both houses and flats. Wall-mounted units need no ducting or major building work, just a tidy pipe run to a small outdoor unit. We confirm what will work best for your property at a site visit before we install.
Does it heat my home as well as cool it?
Yes. The same system reverses in winter to heat your home, drawing warmth from the outside air even on cold days. One tidy, efficient system keeps you comfortable all year round.
Can one system do the whole house?
A single indoor unit looks after one room. For several rooms, a multi-split system runs two or more indoor units from one outdoor unit. We size and design the right setup for your home and budget.
How much does it cost to install?
It depends on the number of rooms and the system you choose, so we never quote blind. We give you a clear, fixed-price proposal at a site visit before we install, with no pressure.
Will it be noisy in a bedroom or living room?
No. The indoor unit runs very quietly, well suited to bedrooms and living spaces, because the compressor and fan that make the most noise sit in the outdoor unit outside.
How much does it cost to run?
